The Student Art Association provides instruction and studio experience in the arts at the beginning and intermediate levels in a range of media. The program is designed for MIT students, though all MIT affiliates may participate as space permits. Enroll in a class today to develop or to refine your craft in an open, hands-on and relaxed environment.
General SAA Policies
The SAA studios are open 24 hours a day, every day, during the Fall 2014 term. Registered students are welcome to use the space as long as a class is not in session. Studio schedules will be posted on the doors at the beginning of each term. It can take up to 2 weeks to activate your ID for studio access.
Please be aware of EHS guidelines. If you are registered for a class, the instructor will cover these at your first meeting. If you are registered for Independent Use, the studio manager will discuss with you at your mandatory orientation.
Before leaving the studios, please store your supplies neatly and leave the space in as good as or better condition than when you arrived.
Ways to Register
Register online to pay with a credit card (Visa, Master Card, or American Express) or Tech Cash. Choose other if you would like to pay by cash or check. Registration is on a first come, first-served basis and in only confirmed once full payment has been received. Students are encouraged to email Stacy with any questions about enrollment status. In the event that a course is full, we will notify you and find another course or fully refund any tuition paid. We reserve the right to cancel classes with a full refund if enrollment is insufficient to run the class.
Course Withdrawal and Refunds
Full refunds are given to students who withdraw 5 or more days before the first class, less a $25 administrative fee. No tuition refunds can be given thereafter. No partial refunds, pro-rated classes or make-up classes are offered for student absence or scheduling conflicts.
Classes are cancelled due to inclement weather at the faculty’s discretion. Should faculty need to cancel a class for any reason, students will be notified by email no later than 2 hours prior to the start of the class.
There is a two week period at the end of each term when classes can be made up due to holidays, faculty absence or inclement weather.
Although some materials may be provided and the studios are open to all members, we ask that members use a reasonable approach in terms of material and studio use and we ask that all members of the community help maintain a safe and clean studio environment. Abuse or mis-use of studio access or SAA materials will result in removal of access and privileges.
Student Art Association programs are sometimes videotaped or photographed for publicity in catalogs, newspapers, radio, or television. Permission to be included in publicity is implied by enrollment. Please contact Stacy if you do not wish to be included in publicity.
