Get your pen and paper ready students, class will soon be in session. Young Guru is taking his talents to Cambridge, Mass. The sought after beatsmith is set to launch the first chapter of the establishment’s series titled “Hip Hop Speaker” at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on March 6.
Tackling the innovative areas of technology and design, Professor Guru will demonstrate how those aforementioned areas can help breathe life into an idea and its role in the music industry.
The famed audio engineer known for constructing beats for artists like Jay Z, Mariah Carey, Talib Kweli and more, is also a lecturer at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music as an artist-in-residence. The visionary’s purpose at the institution is to help students understand the culture of hip hop and for the genre “to be studied and revered the same way you would study jazz artists or opera at a class in a university,” he said in a press conference.
