Students will learn how to make and process photographs with a digital camera. The course will cover camera controls, exposure fundamentals, digital workflows with Adobe Photoshop, color correction, and inkjet printing. Students will also participate with the instructor in critique, giving and receiving feedback to sharpen their technical skills and conceptual strategies.
The SAA provides full-frame digital mirrorless cameras for check-out for this course. Students are also permitted to use their own mirrorless or DSLR camera if desired, but owning a digital camera is not a requirement of the course. Students who choose to use their own camera should have a model that offers a fully manual (aperture/shutter speed/ISO) exposure mode.
Materials will be discussed on the first day of class and are not required until the third class. Students are required to provide their own paper for printing and should purchase:
– 50 sheets of 8.5×11″ Canon Luster Pro Photo Paper
– An 8.5″x11″x1″ proof box to store prints
