IAP20 Block Printing

Day/Time: 4 Mondays, January 6-February 3, 6:00-8:30pm

In this four-part workshop we will create simple graphic works of art and repeat patterns using carving methods derived from woodcut technique. We will carve rubber blocks and other surfaces to create printable images. Printing will be done by hand, allowing finished prints without a press.

Methods for creating and editing successful images for block printing will be discussed. Plan to prepare drawings or source pictures on your own between weekly meetings. Block printing has a lovely hand-made quality which can enhance very simple forms; knowledge of drawing is helpful but not required.
