IAP25 Drawing the Face

Day/Time: 3 Tuesdays starting January 14, 6:00-9:00 pm

Location: SAA 2D Studio (W20-425)

Instructor: Timothy Lee

This intensive introduction to drawing the face will provide students the skills to capture an accurate likeness to their subject of interest, whether it be a self-portrait or that of someone else. Over the course of three classes we will cover tools for capturing proportional accuracy, texture, the gaze, and the subtle details that distinguish a person’s identity rather than general likeness. This class is not intended to be an introduction to drawing as it is expected that students entering this class already possess at the very least a basic understanding of how to utilize marks, lines and value to capture form and light; students interested in an introduction to these skills should instead enroll in Introduction to Drawing Intensive.

Materials: Students will need to purchase their own set of Conte Crayons (4 crayons):

All other materials will be provided by the Studio; Materials fee $10
