Gain practical skills and creative inspiration to extend the lifespan of your clothing and reduce the quantity of textiles consigned to landfills.
The day begins with a clothing exchange where like-new or slightly-used garments that no longer suit one participant’s needs can find their perfect fit with someone else. Participants will then modify one item, whether something found in the swap or brought from home, learning basic sewing machine skills along with alteration techniques designed to breathe new life into old clothes. Demonstrations will be given as relevant and may include hemming, basic fit adjustments, and button replacement.
*Sewing machines, tools, and thread provided. Participants should plan to bring their own lunch and any articles of clothing that they want to donate to the swap or to make alterations and keep.
