Special projects, advanced exercises, casual critiques and tips/training on studio upkeep will all be covered in this advanced class. This class is for students comfortable with intermediate+ levels of both hand-building and wheel-throwing.

The focus of this class is on creating pieces to be fired in the New Hampshire Institute of Art (NHIA)’s Fushigigama Kiln.  The wood fire kiln requires different materials which will be purchased by the SAA. In order to avoid cross-contamination with the two clay bodies we use in our studio, only those enrolled in Wednesday Advanced Ceramics are eligible to participate in the wood firing. Registration for the optional wood firing is limited and there is an extra cost ($165/person) and a time commitment for participating.  We will contact students who register for Wednesday Advanced Ceramics with more information and a registration link for the optional wood fire extension.  If you have questions, please email Jason

It is mandatory that you have taken beginner and intermediate classes prior, though completion of those courses does not guarantee a student is at the advanced level.  Should you have questions about the appropriate class for you to take, please be in touch with the instructor.

Materials and firing fees are included in the price of ceramics courses.
