SP23 Wednesday Introduction to Drawing

Day/Time: 8 Wednesdays starting March 1, 3:30-6:00pm

There is no class March 29.

Location: VPF Conference Room (E25-401) for 3 weeks, ACT Wiesner Room (E15-207) for 5 weeks

This course provides an introduction to the fundamentals and processes of drawing. Students will engage with, and explore, a plethora of drawing methodologies such as mark-making, layering, additive/subtractive drawing, and the articulation of line, shape, volume, weight, gesture, and composition. Through exercises that are grounded in observation, students will gain technical skills, confidence, and a critical eye for representing various subject matters and concepts.

  • 11” x 14” Bristol Pad (Smooth, preferred weight 100lbs/270gsm)
  • Conte a Paris Matchbox Set of 4 crayons – Assorted Sketching Color (white, black, sanguine, sienna)
  • White Mars Plastic Eraser
  • Pencils (4H, 2H, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B)
  • Pencil sharpener
  • Suitable pencilcase
