Day/Time: 10 Thursdays starting February 19, 3:00—5:30pm
There is no class March 26.
Location: W20 Art Studios (W20-425)
Instructor: Timothy Lee

This open-format studio in oil painting is geared towards students who already possess foundational skills in representation and handling oil paint and want to explore their painting more rigorously. As an expansion of Introduction to Oil Painting, this class allows students to apply the skills learned in observational painting towards projects of interest, which includes non-representational art. As there is no set agenda or syllabi and guidance is given on an individual basis, students are given the agency to work towards painting(s) that speak to their own vision and practice.
Because of the nature of this class, students are strongly encouraged to enroll only if they have successfully completed Introduction to Oil Painting or otherwise have a demonstrated strong grasp on oil painting as seen through a portfolio review.
Materials: Students will need to purchase canvases no larger than 18” x 24”, a palette scraper, and a small glass jar with an airtight lid. Students should also have a sufficient variety of different brushes. Please check materials list for information on types of brushes.
*Materials fee covers the cost of all consumables such as paint, soap, linseed oil and one rag; as well as a $50 glass palette deposit, which is returned following receipt of a cleaned glass palette at the end of the semester.
Tuition and Fees:
