This advanced course in painting will challenge students to become technically fluent in the processes and methodologies of painting while they explore the topics of identity, history, and abstraction. Students will work independently in addressing their topics of interest while building upon their skills – formally, conceptually and stylistically. There will be an emphasis in narration, problem-solving, and working in series as students develop a portfolio of works based around a central theme. This class is designed for students with a painting background who are looking to build their technical skills while also developing a vision for their growing practice.
