As a continuation of the topics and skills covered in Introduction to Drawing, this intermediate course dives deeper into the techniques of the drawing medium and explores the contemporary discourse of this expanded field. Students will be introduced to drawing in color, working with the human figure, and there will be an emphasis on the development of a personal style and independent projects.
Prerequisites: It is strongly recommended that students join the class after taking Introduction to Drawing, as this class will not cover basic skills in values, proportions, and rendering techniques.
Materials: Students will need to purchase a soft chalk pastel (NOT oil pastel) set of approximately 15 or more colors. All other materials will be covered through the materials fee for this course.
Tuition and Fees: MIT Undergraduate & Graduate Students $130 | MIT Faculty, Staff, & Other Affiliates $250 | Materials Fee: $20
