Stacy is the Finance and Operations Manager for the Arts at MIT and the Program Manager for the MIT Arts Studios. Prior to joining the Office of the Arts, she was the Senior Administrator for Lemelson-MIT Program and the Education Director of the New Art Center in Newton.

Darrell Finnegan

Ceramics Studio Manager, Ceramics Technical Instructor

Darrell Finnegan is a graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy, Interlochen, Michigan and holds a BFA from Massachusetts College of art in Boston, MA. Prior to MIT, he was staff and a resident artist of the Ceramics Program, Office of the Arts at Harvard. He has been guiding MIT students to value technique and to troubleshoot numerous aspects of the creative process since 1997.

Darrell was awarded the “Outstanding Teacher Achievement Award” from Boston Center for Adult Education and was the recipient of the 2014 MIT Excellence Award, “Serving the Client” presented by Provost Martin Schmidt.

Jacob Geiger

Jacob Geiger is a photographer interested in how the camera can reflect and shape how we conceptualize our position within history and the natural world. Jacob was raised in Tennessee, but came to Massachusetts by way of California, where he worked as a software developer after receiving an undergraduate degree in computer science from Yale University. He received a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from MassArt. He was previously a visiting instructor and digital lab manager at MassArt. He’s always on the lookout for new places to explore, whether on foot or bicycle.

Sarah Hirzel

Maker in Residence, Wiesner Student Art Gallery Curator

Sarah Hirzel is an artist, teacher, and gardener who explores how landscapes in urban and suburban spaces are shaped by human values. She works in traditional drawing media and with textiles, printmaking, and photography. She has taught at Wesleyan University, Fordham University, and Stern College of Yeshiva University. She is a graduate of the Yale School of Art in the Department of Painting and Printmaking, and Wesleyan University.

Timothy Hyunsoo Lee

Timothy Lee is an interdisciplinary artist whose works explore the relationship between bodies, boundaries and rituals. He received his B.A. in Neuroscience and Studio Art from Wesleyan University in 2012, and his MA in Computational Arts from Goldsmiths, University of London in 2021. Working across mediums, and exploring themes such as racial politics, of migration, of death and legacy, and of sexuality that emerged from personal experiences, Timothy’s works have been exhibited at venues such as the Studio Museum, The Wallach Art Gallery of Columbia University, The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, and the National YoungArts Foundation. Prior to joining MIT SAA, Timothy was the GSP Teaching Artist at the Brooklyn Museum.

Marc Mancuso

Ceramics Instructor

Marc is a maker, teacher, and thinker who welcomes minutiae, experiments with processes, and pushes materials to extremes. As a ceramics educator for nearly 25 years, Marc still looks forward to discovering better modes of communicating with students and other teachers. He is keenly interested in finding the nuanced sentiment, a useful reference, or the right technique that propels someone forward. He works and teaches in several studios around the Boston area.
