2016 Council for the Arts at MIT Grant Recipient
Growing living actuators and synthesizing responsive bio-skin
About the Project
In the era where bio is the new interface, bioLogic imagines a world where actuators and sensors can be grown rather than manufactured, being derived from nature as opposed to engineered in factories.
The MIT Tangible Media Group, led by Professor Hiroshi Ishii, seamlessly couples the dual world of bits and atoms by giving dynamic physical form to digital information and computation.
About the Artists
The Tangible Media Group at the MIT Media Lab lead the project in collaboration with MIT Department of Chemical Engineering, Royal College of Art, and New Balance. The team members come from diverse backgrounds including design, art, science, and engineering.
