Marisa Morán Jahn

Of Chinese and Ecuadorian descent, Marisa Morán Jahn is an artist, activist, and immersive media producer. Jahn is the Founder of Studio REV-, a New York based team that uses sound research and bold ideas to produce creative media that impacts the lives of low-wage workers, immigrants, and teens. A  graduate of MIT, her work has been presented at venues such as The White House, Museum of Modern Art, Walker Art Center, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; received grants and awards such as Tribeca Film Institute’s New Media Fund, Rockefeller Cultural Innovation Fund; and reached millions through on-the-street outreach and media broadcast in outlets ranging from The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, BBC, ArtForum, Univision, and more.

Lara Baladi

Lara Baladi is an internationally recognized multi-disciplinary Egyptian artist. Baladi applies archives, investigations of myths, and personal narratives to a range of mediums including architectural and video installations. Baladi publishes and exhibits worldwide. Her works are part of a number of institutional and private collections. She has been a board member of the Arab Image Foundation since its creation in 1997. During the 2011 Egyptian uprising, Baladi co-founded two media initiatives, Radio Tahrir and Tahrir Cinema, which served as public platforms to build and share an archive on and for the revolution. Today, much of Baladi’s work revolves around and stems from this archive.

David Dufresne

David Dufresne is an award-winning independent writer and filmmaker. Fort McMoney, his latest interactive game documentary, produced by ONF/Arte, was a finalist at the SXSW festival 2014, won several international awards and was acclaimed by the New York Times as the “marriage of the film and the video game.”

In 2010, he authored and co-directed Prison Valley with Philippe Brault (Upian/Arte), which won the World Press Photo 2011 (Best interactive non-linear work) and Visa pour l’image 2010 (Best web documentary, France). David Dufresne has also published a dozen investigation books. He lives in Montreal.

Suvi Andrea Helminen

Suvi Andrea Helminen is an interactive and documentary filmmaker from Denmark, currently based in Boston. For more than a decade she has been working in the film industry as a director, video journalist, editor, photographer, writer, concept developer, and project leader of collaborative films. She graduated from The National Film School of Denmark’s documentary department. Her first interactive documentary “48 Hour Games” was released in December 2012 and was shown at live yelling screenings at festivals around the world. For the last couple years she has been working on an interactive documentary and transmedia project called Flux, which explores gender identity. With Flux she is investigating how to create an adaptive and personalized narrative experience where users’ actions directly influence the outcome.

Karim Khelifah, moderated by William Uricchio

Karim Ben Khelifa is a photojournalist who freelances regularly for Time Magazine, Vanity Fair, Le Monde, Stern, GEO and dozens of others. He is also the co-founder of Emphas.is, an online platform that connects audiences and freelance journalists in order to create global communities and alternative funding models for visual storytelling. He is currently the 2013 Carroll Binder Fellow at the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard University and a fellow in the MIT Open Documentary Lab
