MIT Arts Studios Fall Registration: New Lottery System

We’re introducing a new registration process for MIT Arts Studios classes this fall. Instead of the usual first-come, first-served system, we’re testing a ranked choice lottery that gives everyone a fair chance at their preferred classes.

How It Works

Between September 4–7, prospective W20 Arts Studios students submitted up to three class preferences ranked in order of priority. Lottery winners were notified via email and instructed to claim their seat within 24 hours. Participants who did not initially receive a class assignment have been placed on a waitlist and will be notified if a seat becomes available to them.

Fall classes begin September 15, 2025.
